The #47 "dado plane" is similar to the #46, but has a few distinquishing
characteristics...
It was not supplied with a guard plate or fence, and there are not any
holes for the guard plate in the sliding section.
The depth stop boss on the main body was milled off. This plane was
meant to be used with a batten, and the depth stop was placed in the sliding
section receptacle.
The rods are much shorter than normal #46 rods.
It was supplied with 5 cutters.
The plane above is very strange in that the main body has a location
for two spurs - one on each side. You can see this detail in the
2nd picture above. I am not sure if this was from the Stanley factory or
if this was a user modification.
