#45 Abbreviated Type Study

Types 1 (1884 - 1885)

Jappanned. Only minor differences in type 1, 2 and 3 planes.  Mainly only in the fence appearance and brass screws style.  No cutter adjustment.

 
Types 2 (1886 - 1887)

Fence design as shown.  Slotted screws.

Types 3 (1888 - 1889)

Fence now has a flat area so it can be reversed to reach farther in from the edge of the board.

Type 4 (1890-1892)

Nickel-plated,  no cutter adjustement.

Types 5 & 6  (1893-1896)

Cutter adjustement added.  .Knob still on main body.  Rosewood fence added for type 6.  Type 6 shown. 


 
Types 7-8: (1896-1908)

Still has floral pattern on body.  Minor fence trademark differences between types 7 & 8.  Cam added about 1902.  (type 8 shown)

Type 9-11: (1908-1914)

Type 12-17: (1915-1960)

Screw adjustable fence started with type 12. The only difference in types 12-17 is trademark stamped on main body skate. Stanley in Script Logo is type 12. Various SW trademarks are types 13-15. Type 16 &17 are Stanley notched rectangle trademarks. (type 15 shown)

Type 19: (1915-1934) Type 20: (1922-1960)
